Components
Material CAS Number %
Aluminum Oxide 1344-28-1 >95

Potential Health Effects
Skin contact with Aluminum Oxide may cause skin irritation with discomfort or rash. There are no reports of human sensitization. Inhalation of Aluminum Oxide dust may cause temporary lung irritation with cough, discomfort, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath. Higher exposures may lead to chronic lung disorders with symptoms of lung insufficiency. Individuals with preexisting diseases of the lungs may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity of excessive exposures. An epidemiologic study of alumina production workers demonstrated no significant increase in the incidence of pulmonary fibrosis or pneumoconiosis; however, a slight decrease in lung function was identified.
Carcinogenicity Information
None of the components present in this material at concentrations equal to or greater than 0.1% are listed by IARC, NTP, OSHA or ACGIH as a carcinogen.
